Da-Lite’s history begins in 1909 when a young woman named Adele De Berri recognized the opportunity to provide projection screens for the motion picture industry. Since then it has grown into a global operation offering the most comprehensive line of projection screens in the market through the Da-Lite, Projecta and Procolor brands.
The business, then known as Chief Manufacturing, started in 1978 as a designer of stand solutions for slide projectors, later branching into a wide range of communication support solutions for commercial AV dealers. In the late-1990s it introduced a line of custom plasma TV wall mounts which marked a new era of growth for the company.
Sanus was formed in 1986, and over the next 15 years, the company grew into a leader in AV furniture and speaker stands for the residential market. In 2002 Sanus introduced the first universal wall mount for flat panel televisions, ushering in a period of significant growth and business expansion in the consumer electronics market.
In 2004 Chief and Sanus merged, uniting the leaders in commercial and consumer AV mounting solutions. Later the combined global business became known as Milestone AV Technologies.
Four years later, Milestone AV Technologies became a wholly owned company of The Duchossois Group, a privately held diversified company headquartered in Elmhurst, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.
Another exciting change came in 2011 when Milestone added Da-Lite Screen Company to its portfolio of leading AV brands.
Currently Milestone serves a broad base of more than 6,000 global customers with headquarters in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
